Our client is a digital business card and professional networking company headquartered in the Flatiron District of Manhattan. Their co-founder and CTO, Rachel Klein, brought us on over three years ago to take an early MVP — a simple card creator built to prove the idea — and turn it into a production-grade platform that could serve individual professionals and large sales teams alike.
We've stayed on as their engineering partner through every stage since, from that first rebuild to today's enterprise-tier product.
What we built
- Digital card creator & profile builder — contact details, social links, portfolio media, and branding, tappable via NFC or shareable via QR code and link.
- Team & company card management — an admin dashboard for enterprise clients to issue, brand, and manage cards across an entire sales or field team.
- Tap & scan analytics — who viewed a card, when, and from where, rolled up into team-level reporting.
- Apple & Google Wallet integration — cards save directly to a phone's wallet app, not just a browser bookmark.
- CRM export & integrations — captured contacts sync out to the sales tools teams already use.
Why Angular + Node
This is a multi-tenant SaaS product with real structural complexity — individual users, team admins, and company-level billing all need different views of the same data, with strict role-based access between them. Angular's opinionated, structured architecture is a strong fit for exactly that kind of large, long-lived enterprise dashboard, where consistency and maintainability matter more than moving fast and breaking things.
On the backend, Node handles the lighter-weight, high-frequency work well — generating NFC/QR payloads, issuing wallet passes, and logging scan events at volume without adding unnecessary infrastructure overhead.
Three years of steady growth
- Year 1: Rebuilt the MVP into a production platform — card creation, profiles, and basic sharing.
- Year 2: Added team/enterprise accounts, role-based admin, and tap analytics.
- Year 3: Apple & Google Wallet integration, CRM export, and SSO for larger enterprise customers.
- Ongoing: Performance and security hardening as the customer base has scaled well past its original size.
Enterprise SaaS customers don't just buy a product — they're trusting the platform to still be reliable, secure, and actively maintained a year from now. That only works with a development partner who's committed to sticking around.
Why this matters for SaaS founders
A lot of early-stage SaaS products get built fast to prove the concept, then hit a wall when real enterprise customers show up and expect role-based access, audit trails, and integrations. The fix isn't a rewrite from scratch — it's a partner who can evolve the existing platform methodically, release after release, without breaking what's already working for paying customers.
